Indiana coach Bobby Knight and other advocates of defensive basketball may have wanted to take a gun to the scoreboard the other night during the Arensburg
-Glidden Paint game in the Independent B basketball league.
By the end of the game,Arensburg had outscored Glidden Paint 140-120.The 140 points surpassed the league single game record of 124 scored by New Lexington League in 1979.The 260 combined points bettered the 224 put up by New Lex and the Newark Air Force Station in '79.
Arensburg,which leads the league with a 7-1 record and is averaging 105 points per game,was paced by former Newark player Chris Franga with 42 points.Steve Rechel netted 40 points while Steve Woolard and Greg Dixon added 24 and 18,respectfully.
Thurman Freeman tossed in 44 for Glidden Paint,Jeff Maier tallied 32 and Mike Brock scored 25
